To be considered, you must be:

• Entering first year of one of the following Engineering programs at Waterloo: Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or
• Entering first year of the Science and Business program, or
• Entering second year of an Earth Sciences program.

Selection is based on:

• Academic merit (your admission grades/predicted results - for Indian students, typically your Class XII marks in the relevant subjects)
• Your Admission Information Form (AIF) - Waterloo's substitute for a personal statement, required for all Engineering applicants

• For Engineering recipients, the award is disbursed over the four academic years of the program (three years for Earth Sciences recipients) rather than paid as a single lump sum - worth knowing so Indian students budget accordingly rather than expecting the full amount upfront.
• Suncor also offers optional extras beyond the funding itself - things like mentorship, co-op work opportunities, and networking with the company - though participation isn't mandatory to keep the award.
